No more secrets quote10/31/2023 One time, on a bus trip, Clarke grabbed Hamer’s leg and asked if he could keep moving his hand toward the boy’s groin. ![]() Hamer said his teacher soon began making inappropriate advances. It was, ‘Oh, yeah, you dating her now? What do you do with her?’” Do you have an erection?’ It was the hugs, constant hugs. “He’d make comments about your body: ‘Oh, I can see your nipples through your shirt, you must be horny. Sometimes he’d tell sexually explicit stories that the teenage boys thought were a bit weird, but funny. Within hours of the teacher’s arrest hitting the news, a second woman, four years older than Howat, came forward with a similar story, leading to more charges against Stanutz.ĭozens of former students, men and women in their late 20s to late 50s, began sharing their stories of sexual abuse at Bell, raising questions about what exactly had gone on inside the west-end school, and how it had been allowed to continue for so long.Īt first, Hamer found the band room a sanctuary of comfort and acceptance where he’d share lunch with his pals and their music teacher, Bob Clarke.Ĭlarke acted like one of the guys, eating french fries and joking around. Stanutz, an award-winning teacher and band leader, was charged with sexual assault and suspended from his job. Ella newton 202010/31/2023 ![]() Disturbia’s central character gets a gender-flip (where 30 year-old Ella Newton gets to play a teenager!). Girl at the Window gives us some minor changes to the Rear Window/Disturbia premise. Of course Disturbia owed its basics to other works like the slasher film Eyes of a Stranger (1981) going all the way back to Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window (1954) in which James Stewart is wheelchair-ridden following an accident and takes to spying on his neighbours with a telephoto lens only to inadvertently witness Raymond Burr murdering his wife. Though it is an original screenplay, Girl at the Window is fairly much an uncredited remake of Disturbia (2007) in which teenager Shia LaBeouf is confined on home detention and begins to suspect that his next door neighbour is a serial killer. Girl at the Window was Hartley’s second dramatic outing as a director. There Hartley unfortunately turned a modest original, which has become a cult classic, into something ridiculously overwrought that hammered every directorial point home with a sledgehammer. Hartley broached his first fiction film with Patrick (2013), a remake of an earlier Ozploitation classic Patrick (1978) about a coma patient who exhibits psychic powers. He went on to make a series of very entertaining theatrically released documentaries on other exploitation genres with Machete Maidens Unleashed! (2010) about the Filipino film industry of the 1970s and Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films (2014) about Golan-Globus and Cannon Films. He then made the full-length documentary Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation! (2008), an hilarious looks at the Australian exploitation film industry of the 1970s and 80s. Hartley began making music videos in the 1990s and by the 2000s was specialising in making extras shorts to accompany dvd releases of classic Australian films. Mark Hartley is better known as a documentary-maker than a dramatic filmmaker. ![]() As the latest girl is abducted, Amy tries to find evidence to take to the police but ends up upsetting both Chris and her mother, where her claims about Chris are dismissed as being all in her imagination. Perennial garden layout10/31/2023 ![]() Measure the space first, then draw out a scale plan on to which you can mark the desired locations of different functional areas of the garden.īear in mind how sunny or shady these areas are and how this suits what will go on in the space. But either way, an actual plan is a sound strategy at this stage. Wondering how to plan a garden layout? You could take the traditional approach with paper and pencil, or go digital. If your garden will also serve as an outdoor living room, consider garden zoning with areas of lawn, plant-filled beds and borders, and outdoor rooms for dining and relaxing, which can be the ideal choice for the most multi-functional spaces.įinally, you'll want to consider how any hardscaping and the size and shape of your garden will impact its look. If your garden is adjacent to a kids play area, consider hardier plants that won't be easily flattened by balls sent their way. If you want to attract butterflies or repel mosquitoes, there are plants for that, too. If privacy is a concern, you'll want to choose high-growing plants or shrubs that'll fill enough to create a sight barrier when you're landscaping with evergreens. You can an whittle down your list of plants based on any functional and aesthetic goals you'd like to achieve.

Macsoftware logic pro x tutorial10/31/2023 ![]() ![]() You’ll also want to take a revised look at some of the key plug-ins used in mixing – namely EQ and Compression – to see how their adverse application can compromise good Gain Staging in your mix. In the case of Logic Pro X, Gain Staging is principally about using the Gain plug-in, Clip-Gain, VCAs or just better use of metering to maintain good headroom. The broad objective is to average all the signals in your mix around -12dBFS, attenuating Loops, Virtual Instruments and Audio Tracks so that they’re at the correct level before they hit any faders. The walkthrough illustrates a number of contrasting solutions you can take in Logic Pro X so as to actively Gain Stage your mix correctly. Likewise, you’ll also find that metering becomes your friend rather than battling against the dreaded ‘over’ of a mix pushed too close to 0dBFS. In the case of Logic, therefore, there are a number of strategies that you can take – both during tracking and just before a mix – that ensure you’re leaving enough headroom to mix properly. Put simply, Gain Staging is all about allowing Headroom in your mix, both on a track-by-track basis, but also in subsequent buses and, of course, the main stereo bus. As a result, many engineers are returning to a mixing and production workflow that values dynamic range and headroom – the art of Gain Staging, in other words. ![]() Of course, this methodology is a guaranteed route to producing a loud mix, but even in the case of more compressed music styles (like EDM, for example) the lack of sonic headroom makes for a confined and restricted working environment. One of the big problems of the Loudness Wars was a tendency to work consistently up to 0dBFS – in other words, pushing everything in the mix, even the mix itself, as close to the top of the meter scale as possible. Put simply, choice is being put back in our hands – we can choose between our music is pushed to the limits or an alternative where we give the arrangement room to breathe without fear the listener hears a dramatically quieter mix. Streaming has actively changed the way we produce music, in this case, driven by the Loudness Correction used by the likes of Spotify and iTunes that actively turns down overcooked masters. There’s a quiet revolution taking place in the music production industry – a movement that places emphasis on transient detail and dynamic range rather than the ‘needles in the red’ sound that epitomised the Loudness Wars. |
